Did the Dodo bird live in Madagascar?

NO! The dodo bird was not from Madagascar, it lived on the island of Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island well east of Madagascar. Some books, including No Holiday: 80 Places You Don't Want To Visit (Disinformation Travel Guides), erroneously state that the Dodo was from Madagascar.

The dodo was a close relative pigeon and dove, but was hunted to extinction in the 17th century by the Dutch.
